Fun on the Trampoline
A trampoline for kids is always a good idea. It gets them moving about and exercising without even knowing it. You can great trampoline in the back garden for the summer weather – or in the colder days there are some great trampoline centres where they can have lots of fun indoors. Here there is the added benefit of them being able to play with other kids, and they have extra features such as competitions, dodgeball, and lots more.
Have a Family Walk or Cycle
It’s a good idea to book some time together as a family to do something fun anyway, so why not add a little physical activity into the bargain too? If you are going to do something like have a picnic – you could cycle to your destination, or schedule in a walk at the same time. A hike is also a fun idea, and something that you can make fun. You can choose a spot that has nice scenery.
Schedule in No TV Time
You can schedule in a specific time of the week, each week where your kids know that there will be no TV on a weekday at night. In it’s place you can schedule in a healthy activity instead. It could be going to the local park for a run, or even just to go outside play. That in itself is much better than sitting on the sofa and gives them a specific routine.
Encourage Extra Curricular Activities
When kids get to the age they are at school, there are usually some great extra curricular activities for them to choose from. It could be a football team, a netball team or even a badminton team. Whatever it is, it will be great for them to get some additional exercise. It’s also a good way for them to meet new friends to socialise with outside school.

A family gym membership can be a great idea. We aren’t suggesting that your child needs to pound the treadmill every day – but there are lots of other things at the gym that can be great. There are usually squash courts, tennis courts, etc that you can rent out – and they also tend to have swimming pools, so you can go swimming together which is a great healthy activity.
